You’re never too old to go to prom! High school seniors in Lee County helped a senior living community have a very special prom night.
The idea started when Riverdale High School senior, Nikole Thomas, reached out to The Preserve for a class project, Thomas wanted to throw a prom for the residents. Months later, plans were in motion, thanks to her and some fellow classmates.
The prom happened last week, and it was a great time!
Pat Kosich went with her husband, Jack, who also lives at The Preserve. They’ve been married for 65 years, and this was their first prom together.
“I’ve been happy this whole week. The ladies are getting their hair done …it’s been wonderful… I’ve been hearing them talking about their dresses. It’s nice. It’s just a nice feeling,” said Kosich.
Thomas was emotional talking about the event, which she planned because she feels that seniors are under appreciated.
“It’s been so nice talking to everybody and seeing everything, all the decorations,” Thomas said.
The Preserve crowned residents Bob and Mabel Weaver as prom king and queen! They celebrated their 70th anniversary this Monday.
